Your students will become confident coders in this engaging five-day unit focused on loops and concurrent programming. Over the week, they move from reviewing repeating patterns in their community to using "Repeat" blocks to write efficient code, then advance to synchronizing two objects moving at the same time. By Day 4, your students are debugging concurrent code and explaining how changes to one sequence affect the whole scene. The unit culminates in a summative project where students coordinate a festival parade—writing code for multiple performers to arrive at the stage together, identifying bugs when obstacles appear, and using spatial language to describe the final layout.
Each lesson builds on the last with hands-on tasks using grids, figurines, and arrow notation.
