Your students will become confident measurers over five engaging days! In this unit, students explore non-standard measurement units first—discovering the inverse relationship that smaller units mean bigger counts—then progress to standard metric tools (rulers, metre sticks, and time-keeping). Each lesson builds on the last: they'll learn to choose appropriate units, measure lengths accurately starting at zero, use real-world benchmarks to estimate (fingernail = 1 cm, hockey stick = 1 m), and describe time duration in seconds, minutes, and hours. The unit wraps with a capstone day that brings it all together.
