Your students will become Junior Likelihood Detectives over this engaging 5-day unit! Through hands-on station activities, puppet conversations with Lucky Lou the Loon and Maybe Mae the Cat, and real testing with coins, dice, spinners, and mystery bags, children learn to name events as impossible, possible, or certain. They'll make predictions based on likelihood, then test those predictions in new groups to discover that different groups can give different results — and that's perfectly okay. This unit builds mathematical thinking through sorting events, predicting outcomes, comparing results across groups, and reflecting on what the data tells us.
